Barix Instreamer Set Up

A Barix Instreamer can be used to set up a radio stream which can then be passed over to Bryx for audio streaming within the app. You can set up and configure your Barix Instreamer for Bryx by following the steps outlined below.


Items that are highlighted below will be provided to you by Bryx. If you have not been provided with these items and are in need of them to complete your configuration, please reach out to support@bryx.com with the name of your agency as well as the name of the stream.

 

Before starting, you will need to find the IP address of your Barix Instreamer. You can use your router’s administration page to determine the IP address or ask your IT administrator. Alternatively, you can plug headphones into the Barix Instreamer and it will announce its IP. Navigate to the IP address of the Instreamer via your web browser. For this example, the IP address is 10.10.240.122 but your IP will be different. Upon initial connection, you will see the following screen:


Click on the Configuration tab at the top of the page and set the following values in Basic Settings:

    - Input Source: Line mono

    - Audio Format: MPEG1/32 KHz (MP3)

    - Streaming Mode: send always


Select Advanced Settings -> Network on the left-hand side of the page. Here, you can enter your preferred networking configuration. If you would prefer to leave the device on DHCP, leave the configuration as is.




Select Advanced Settings -> Audio. Set the parameters in the audio section as follows:

    - Input Source: Line mono '

    - Audio Format: MPEG1 / 32 kHz (MP3) 

    - MPEG Bitrate Mode: CBR 

    - MPEG Bitrate: 32 Kpbs 

    - A/D amplifier gain: -3 

    - MPG Bit Reservoir: Leave this field empty.



Select Advanced -> Streaming. Set the parameters as follows:

    - Streaming Mode: send always 

    - Buffer Underrun Mode (TPC): skip 

    - Stream Packet Strategy: optimal package 

    - UDP Tx Source Port: 0 

    - Own Name: Fire Radio 

    - Radio Path: Mountpoint

    - Icy-URL / SIP user: Username

    - Icy-genre: Public Safety 

    - Shoutcast stream: public 

    - Streaming Destinations: 

        - Conn. type: Icecast source 

        - Enter IP Address or Domain Name: Server address

        - Port: Port



- Advanced -> IO & Serial and Advanced->Control & SNMP can be skipped. 

    - Under Advanced -> Security should have the following values: 

        - Save Configuration: Your own password 

        - Icecast/Shoutcast: Password provided by Bryx 

        - Factory Defaults at Reset: Disabled 

        - Listening: Not protected 

        - SNMP Community RWrite: no write access 

        - SNMP Community Read: no access



Be sure to click apply after all configuration items are set. The Instreamer will restart to apply the settings. Verify that your configuration is correct before pressing apply.

To verify the proper configuration, Click Active Connections from the main screen. You should see a connection to 45.79.140.224 with a DST port of 8000.
