Apparatus Accounts

Bryx supports special 'apparatus accounts'. You can create these accounts from the management site at https://manage.bryx911.com/. Effectively, this allows you to create a dummy 'email' to use to log in on an apparatus' device. Apparatus accounts have certain quirks designed for security:
  1. In order to log out, the password must be typed in to ensure it cannot be signed out by mistake or by an unauthorized person

  2. Once logged in to a device, it cannot be logged in to another device, which locks the account to the apparatus-mounted device. You can then use the device's GPS receiver, if it has one, in place of a dedicated AVL solution if your apparatus does not have one to view the location of your apparatus on the map. Note that some devices such as MDTs may not GPS built-in, and even so, it may not be very accurate. We recommend using a dedicated AVL solution for the most reliable, real-time updates, and we've partnered with a company called Linxup which provides dongles for this purpose if you don't have a need for a full-featured modem: https://bryx.com/linxup

To get started, navigate to 'Members' on the left-hand side, then click the 'Apparatus' tab, and finally click the green 'Create' button. The creation dialog looks like this:

Simply provide a name for the apparatus, and an "ID" (identifier). Note that at the end of the "ID" text box, there is some text after it - in the example screenshot above, it's "us.ny.demo.bryx". When you do this yourself, it will be a unique identifier for your agency. An apparatus type will also be suggested for you - double check that it is correct, and then type in a password for the account. Finally, click "Create" and you can see it in the table when the dialog disappears.

To log in under the apparatus account, you will combine the "ID" you chose and this unique suffix and use that in place of an email address to log in to the apps. In the example above, if I were to have "engine123" as my ID, I would log in with the email "[email protected]".
